March 2008 was an intense and emotional time in Dharamsala.
An uprising had spontaneously broken out all over Tibet and the Chinese crackdown was brutal. Hundreds of Tibetans had been killed, injured or arrested.
The bodies of those killed weren’t being released to their families for burial. The Tibetans in India felt helpless.
This video shows a procession of effigies of the bodies of those killed, taken to the charnel ground and cremated with all the ceremony due to the dead.
